Why a Prayer Chapel?
The Portofino:Rock Prayer Chapel is for the hurting, wounded, discouraged, troubled and broken who need help finding God in the messy midst of life. It's our desire that those needing prayer find loving saint willing to partner with others in those prayers. Portofino:Rock Prayer Chapel prayer partners are Jesus’s representatives tied to the Holy Spirit to help those in need. We believe everyone will leave the Prayer Chapel lighter, the cares of this world in perspective. Jesus is always the perfect source of answers.
2000 years ago Jesus lived in the real world, as a human, facing the same struggles and emotions that we experience today in the same real world. He had perfect theology but more was needed - the Holy Spirit. Once the Holy Spirit descended upon Him, He lived through three years of divine appointments with adversity, and with help from the Holy Spirit lived perfectly. Today we are Jesus representatives in this same real world. Like Jesus's example, we suffer adversity every second and just like Jesus, we will defeat it. In and through Him we are up to the task.
Jesus is the Word, so His words are supremely important. Words create or destroy. Using His Word we think correctly. We have His authority as Christians to use our known words and also the unknown words of the Spirit.
How Will the Prayer Chapel Work?
The Prayer Chapel will be open 24/7/365. No money is ever needed or expected to come pray. It will be staffed by prayer-rich Christians. Anyone is welcome to pray anywhere within the chapel, alone or with an intercessor ready to lift up all needs to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Every window, bench, mat, porch, nook or cranny is perfect for prayer. With a group, sitting at a table with a prayer partner or looking at the prayers hung on the walls has been created to make those in need comfortable and contemplative. It's encouraged for people to stay as long as they like; the Lord is always available to listen and answer prayers. The Lord loves a poured-out heart; He has no judgement, no condemnation, no rules, no regulations, and is in no hurry.
